You Tube in your Blogger Blog

Someone on the twitter recently asked whether it were possible to put a YouTube video into a blogger blog. According to this forum, it can be done.

Let's see if it works:

Who Said -- a literature game delivered as a podcast: "A literature game delivered as a podcast"

If you have a chance, listen to this and see if you can guess which novel the words are from and who spoke them.

How to embed Quicktime movies in an HTML page is a tutorial on the ANT website. It also features a link to the original documentation from Apple. This is actually something I was trying to figure out how to do this afternoon.

Where are they going??

I don't know where they are going??

Here is a new one

Can it get to where it is supposed to be??

April 12, 2003

I'm so overwhelmed by all that I'm reading about blogs and RSS and newsfeeds. I don't know exactly which direction all of this is going. But all signals seem to indicate that it is moving toward the FUTURE. Stay tuned....

April 02, 2003

Here it is Thursday and I've just gotten together 5 or six resumes and cover letters to send out. I'm certainly operating without an adequate sense of urgency on this one. I see some interesting postings, especially on the latest Ohayo sensei. The batch I'm sending out are in response to Monday's JT. For the more choice choices in the Ohayo Sensei, I feel the need to brush up the cover letter and individualize each one for the specific position. To that end, I'm thinking of getting out of the house today to get some work done on this end. Also, I'm falling dangerously behind in the listening practicum. I will take my materials to TC and try to stay on task for a few hours.

It seems that I've been spending a huge amount of time looking at Elearning on the net the past couple of days. I've found a wealth of sites and the recurring theme seems to be blogs. They are everywhere now. I'm wondering if I can introduce some sort of blog functionality to the TC website. But where do I find the time to pull all of this stuff together? It's about choices, isn't it?

March 21, 2003

Whew, what a deal. I'm back at the TC after having dropped Hannah off at her Grandparents for the remainder of the weekend. Sadly, I haven't even begun work on the Rost deal which is due tomorrow. I've have taken care of the other matters for the Listening Practicum, luckily.

My mistake last night was installing the DivX player on the computer last night. That meant that I had to play a movie to see if it worked. I was so amazed watching the opening sequences of the Tigger Movie that I decided to watch something a little more enjoyable. The next CD I could find was of The Matrix. I had watched the opening scenes once or twice before but never sat down for the whole film. Last night it enthralled me. What a cool film. Unfortunately, I started watching at around midnight and it is longer than 2 hours.

So homework unfinished and I'm exhausted.

I arrived at TC early hoping to take a whack at the Rost deal. First I wanted to update the blog, you know how it is. Just as I was beginning to write all of this crappola, Mariko came up and asked if it was okay to talk about Dreamweaver. Of course I said. I owe her so much, so any help I can give is easy. She had a bit of a problem with a table assignment for her class at TC. It took some doing, but I was eventually able to show her an easier way to accomplish what she is trying to do. I went rather quickly, and it was odd because many people are starting to arrive at the TC. So I hope she could make sense of it.

Anyhow, enough said on all of this. It is time to get a seat in the classroom. Catch ya later.

March 20, 2003

It is after my bedtime, but I still pound away on the computer. The past 3 hours or so have been spent trying to further learn about the blogger system. I also tweeked the frame based section of the home.att website. It is pretty cheesy, but it is also something I needed to figure out how to do. The next implementation should be more elegant.

As should be obvious to anyone who cares, I'm falling further behind on my deadlines for this weekend's classes at TC. I also am falling behind on my quest for a new and better job. Somehow, I'm just too focused on trying to develop these computer skills - slow and plodding as the effort may be. Bottom Line, it's fun.

I need to pack it in and go to bed. Funny though, when I decided to start typing in this blog entry I thought I would have something meaningful to share. Again, that is not to be. I guess it will have to wait until tomorrow. ciao

March 19, 2003

Now it Thursday afternoon, I finished school a little early and came home to hear the news that the bombing has begun in Iraq. I got a little bit of info off of the net. The ShapeAmp link which is on this blogger page really has some of the best information I've come across.

I've made a tiny bit of progress on my homework for this weekend. It looks like there will be one or two all nighters after the girls go to sleep today and tomorrow so that I can get all caught up.

Right now, Hannah is very anxious to get on the computer so she can do her internet thing. She is really interested in Playhouse Disney.

She also likes the Sesame Street website.

So when I finish this entry she will go check out one or the other. There are a few others we will probably visit. Yuki is taking a nap right now as is Shawna. That means Hannah will get some good uninterupted computer time. Maybe I can work on my homework.

One more note, relating to the entry from the weekend. It seems that I do have the archive business under control. I read the FAQ files and did just what it says. Amazing how reading the instructions can make all the differerence sometimes.

More later....

March 15, 2003

I've been very busy with the kids, the computer, and general mayhem. I'm still trying to get the Blog archive features squared away. I may be on to something now, but I'll hold my glee until I'm certain it works.

March 12, 2003

Okay, I'm there. I don't know why I bother posting such tripe. It is just that I feel the need to be contributing. The highlight of this days blogs was the link to the CALL and writing deal at TESOL.
I was able however, to figure out what has been causing so much problem with the archives. I didn't even know that a separate template for archives existed. Upon reading the FAQ and making some minor revisions, all seems to be working. SO FAR! We will see, what happens the next time there is an actual update to the archive.
Until then, I'm gonna sign out.
Now it is much later. I hardly have the energy to say anything meaningful. The time invested in battling the Blogger archival system seems to finally be paying off. Thank goodness for the FAQs. After I check it out, I'll update the other Banal Blogs I've been putting up recently. Then maybe a bit of work before bed....

March 11, 2003

I'm finding that there isn't time enought to do all of the things I wish to do. And I"m spending far too much time trying to configure these silly blogs. I don't know if the archive feature is working properly or not.
An interesting website for TESOL conference CALL and writing:

Check it
Okay, I'm going to post this one on the blogfest. This will be my last deal on the computer for today I think. It is very late and I do need to be going to bed soon. The notable thing about this post may be that I'm doing it using the EDXOR text editor program. I don't know how special that is. It is far easier than typing directly into the Blogger text entry page. There isn't the same delay time between key press and response on the screen.

I don't know if I've found or lost the way entirely. This is some fun stuff. I'm learning heaps about the computer. But I've really got some serious work to do. We shall see if I can get it all done.
I'm back and working on quite a few things at once. I'm realizing that the need to keep a few different blogs just because I've got a few different tasks going on simultaneously. Partially it being done just to see if it can be done. But also it is being done because it is fun, and I'm still trying to work out some of the glitches. I'm going to need to set up a TA blog, because I've been hired as a TA for an online course. I'll also need to set up an ALT blog. I suppose that Blogfest at Tiffany's will be catch all blog. It will always be near and dear to my heart because it was the first one.

It will always feel like the first time here. (yuck - Foreigner)
